Program: Mental Health, Alcohol & Drugs
Location: St. Kilda and South Melbourne
We are looking for a suitably qualified individual, who is passionate about Dual Diagnosis, to join our dynamic Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs Team. This position will work to improve dual diagnosis response across a broad range of services. The position will be specifically targeting those who experience high levels of disadvantage and vulnerability, and will involve a small component of direct service delivery. This is an exiting opportunity to be involved in a new and innovative role.
To be suitable for this role you will ideally possess the following skills:
- A professional qualification of Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or other relevant qualification and either registration with professional organization, or eligibility for registration with the AASW.
- Experience and demonstrated ability in the provision of recovery focused rehabilitation and support services to persons with psychiatric disability as a result of serious mental illness
- knowledge of the drug and alcohol service system and the range of treatment options available, including knowledge of principles of prevention and harm minimization as these relate to illicit drug use.
- Demonstrated understanding of theoretical frameworks and relevant experience in clinical supervision of mental health, AOD and other outreach workers (individual and group)

We are seeking an energetic and driven Psychiatric Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker to join our Assertive Mental Health Outreach Team located at Prahran. Your responsibilities will include providing proactive and recovery focussed engagement with people who appear to be experiencing mental illness who have issues with homelessness and are not already engaged with services. This is an exciting opportunity for you to be innovative and contribute to further development of this program in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
To be suitable for this role you will ideally possess the following skills:
- A professional qualification of Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy or Social Work and either appropriate registration with professional organization, or eligibility for registration with the AASW
- Experience and demonstrated ability in the provision of recovery focused rehabilitation and support services to persons with psychiatric disability as a result of serious mental illness
- Experience in effective provision of services to persons experiencing homelessness
- Knowledge of the principles and application of the Mental health Act 1976, other Acts and policy relevant to the provision of mental health services
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of mental health examination and mental health risk assessment
