Due to additional funding being awarded to Windana recently, we have created this brand new position. We are looking for a high quality, qualified candidate wanting to expand their AOD case management skills in a detox setting.
Reporting directly to the Manager, this position provides a range of psychosocial
treatment and support services, to effect and maintain therapeutic change for clients the Drug Withdrawal House. Mandatory for this position is a relevant academic qualification (minimum diploma or higher) in Alcohol and Other Drugs, counselling, social work or the health sciences.
In addition, candidates will have the following key competencies:
- Empathetic to values of Windana
- Solid AOD withdrawal experience
- Knowledge and experience in Mental Health issues
- Demonstrated experience in working with clients with complex issues including drug and alcohol related issues.
- Demonstrated capacity to implement case management strategies.
- Capacity to use a variety of counselling modalities as required.
- Awareness of local community agencies and networks likely to be of value to clients.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good self care and time and work management skills.
The position is a full-time role and is paid under the Social Community Homecare and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 at $25.86 per hour, plus salary packaging which adds about 10% per annum value to your take home salary, plus 9% super. Additional pay rises occar at July 1 and December 1 this year.

As a part of Outreach Services,Windana’s AOD Support Services is a supported accommodation community based program for adults and families whose lives have been affected by alcohol and drug use. The program aims to provide support to clients who have undergone a drug withdrawal program or who require assistance in addressing drug and alcohol related issues and who reside within our short term transitional accommodation. During the first five weeks of the program, there are group activities each day and these are a compulsory part of the program.
Residents in AOD Support Services can maintain their existing commitments in the broader community such as employment, education or relationships with their children. The program is open to people over the age of 21, including women (or men) with children and families.
The Support Worker will be required to:
- Negotiate an Individual Treatment Plan with each person participating in the program.
- Assist the client to create new networks to support employment, education, training, recreation, housing, mental health, personal and social needs.
- Support people with practical assistance to enhance each person’s quality of life through skill acquisition, counselling and relapse prevention.
- Provide support to the Windana Integration house in Mentone.
The successful applicant will become part of a dedicated team empowering participants to develop the skills necessary to live fulfilling lives within the community. Qualifications and experience in AOD, case management and working with children/families is essential. Facilitation and promotion of regular ‘living skills’ groups will be a part of the role.
The position is a full-time role and annual package, paid under the Social Community Homecare and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 at $25.86 per hour, plus salary packaging which adds about 10% per annum, plus 9% super, plus company car valued at $6000 per annum which equates to a $60,000 annual package.
